SCAR - Salisbury Coalition Against Racism was set up at the begining of 2009 to highlight the problems of racism in the Salisbury and South Wiltshire area. We distributed beer mats to pubs in the area and posted posters around the city of Salisbury declaring "Salisbury Says No to Racism". We also commisoned a local photogrpaher to take pictures of people from different racial backgrounds who were living and working in the area. This was to counter the argument that Salisbury and South Wiltshire is a purely a white middle class area.
The exhibition of photographs was first viewed at the Guildhall Salisbury on 7th February 2009.
It will be on show again at Salisbury District Hospital between 18th September 2009 to 18th October 2009.
We are at present looking at arranging further events to raise the question of what we do now that we have raised to issue of racism in the area.
Watch this space for further discussion on the subject.
